Egyptian Fincart Secures $2.8M Seed Funding to Expand AI-Powered Merchant Platform

Egyptian startup Fincart has successfully closed a $2.8 million seed funding round, co-led by Pan-African venture fund Launch Africa and Antler MENAP. This investment will enable Fincart to scale its AI-driven operating system designed for e-commerce merchants. The company pivoted from logistics management to offering a comprehensive platform that integrates logistics, embedded financing, and AI-powered customer engagement, addressing the fragmented software landscape faced by online sellers.
Fincart has already demonstrated significant traction, onboarding over 450 merchants and processing nearly EGP 1 billion (approximately $20 million) in merchandise value. This was achieved through its automated shipping and cash reconciliation workflows, which are crucial in markets like Egypt where cash-on-delivery (CoD) transactions remain prevalent. The platform aims to consolidate various merchant functions into a single AI-powered control panel, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.
The capital raised will primarily be used to expand Fincart's commercial and technical teams, accelerate product development, and forge new partnerships within Egypt. The company has ambitious plans for expansion beyond its home market, with a target to begin entering other African and Middle Eastern markets starting in 2027. This strategic move positions Fincart to capitalize on the growing e-commerce sector across the continent.
This funding round also contributes to Egypt's National AI Strategy 2025-2030, which aims to foster over 250 AI companies and generate substantial economic value from AI by the end of the decade. Fincart's success in a competitive market, marked by established customer bases and processed transaction volumes, distinguishes it from newer entrants and underscores its potential to become a significant player in Africa's e-commerce infrastructure.
