Egyptian Startup Fincart Secures $2.8M to Scale AI-Powered E-commerce Logistics Across Africa

Cairo-based startup Fincart has successfully closed a seed funding round, raising over $2.8 million to expand its AI-powered operating system for online merchants across the Middle East and Africa. The funding round saw participation from prominent investors, including Africa-focused fund Launch Africa and Antler MENAP, alongside others like Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, and Kalahari Venture Labs. This capital injection follows a prior pre-seed round, highlighting sustained investor confidence in Fincart's model.
Founded by ex-executives from major delivery and tech companies, Fincart initially focused on connecting e-commerce sellers with last-mile delivery providers. It has since evolved into a comprehensive operating system that integrates shipping, revenue-based financing, and customer retention tools, all driven by artificial intelligence. The platform boasts Africa's largest integrated delivery network, aggregating over 40 shipping companies to automate the entire order-to-cash workflow for merchants.
Fincart currently serves over 450 merchants across various sectors, having processed goods worth over E£1 billion (approximately $20 million). The company emphasizes its organic growth, with nearly 40% of new customers acquired through direct referrals and no marketing spend over three years, indicating strong product-market fit. This success is attributed to its ability to streamline operations and address the fragmented payment collection prevalent in cash-on-delivery-dominated markets.
The new funding will be channeled into expanding Fincart's commercial and technical teams, boosting product development, and forging new partnerships within Egypt. Crucially, the company also plans to enter additional African and Middle Eastern markets by 2027, aiming to solidify its position as a regional operating system for e-commerce. This expansion is vital for leveraging Egypt's potential as a regional trade infrastructure hub.
Investors highlighted the significant opportunity within the Egyptian e-commerce market, particularly in digital infrastructure for SMEs, given the market's size and the prevalence of cash-on-delivery. Fincart's ability to address these specific market frictions with an AI-driven solution positions it as a key player in enhancing e-commerce efficiency and growth across Africa, especially as it looks to adapt its model to diverse regional logistics and payment landscapes.
