Egyptian AI E-commerce Platform Fincart Secures $2.8M for African Expansion

Fincart, an Egyptian startup, has successfully raised $2.8 million in seed funding to advance its AI-powered operating system designed for e-commerce merchants. This investment follows a strategic pivot from logistics management to a comprehensive platform offering embedded financing and AI-driven customer engagement. The company aims to consolidate fragmented merchant services, providing a single control panel for shipping, customer support, marketing, and payments, thereby enabling automation and data utilization.
The funding round was co-led by Launch Africa, a pan-African venture capital fund, and Antler MENAP, with additional participation from several other investors including Yango Ventures and Five35 Ventures. This diverse investor base underscores confidence in Fincart's model and its potential for regional growth. The capital injection will be used to scale Fincart's commercial and tech teams, enhance product development, and establish new commercial partnerships, particularly within its home market of Egypt.
The startup's expansion strategy includes extending its reach across Africa and the Middle East, with plans for broader African market entry from 2027. Fincart's CEO, Mostafa Masry, emphasized the investment's role in strengthening the e-commerce ecosystem and accelerating growth. With Egypt's e-commerce market projected to reach $20.15 billion by 2031, Fincart is positioning itself to capitalize on significant opportunities by providing essential infrastructure and services to underserved small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Launch Africa's investment manager, Lina Kacyem, highlighted Egypt's compelling e-commerce infrastructure opportunity, characterized by high volume, cash-on-delivery dominance, and a significant SME gap. The strong product-market fit, evidenced by organic, referral-driven growth, makes Fincart an attractive venture for investors looking to support the region's commerce infrastructure. Fincart currently serves over 450 merchants and enterprise customers, having processed nearly EGP 1 billion (approximately $20 million) in merchandise value.
