Talent Nation Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Cultivate One Million African AI Engineers

Talent Nation, a Nigerian-founded platform focused on AI engineering talent, has successfully raised an undisclosed pre-seed funding round. The investment aims to support the company's ambitious goal of training and deploying one million AI engineers across Africa over the next decade. This initiative addresses the critical need for skilled AI professionals on the continent, positioning Africa as a significant hub for future AI development and application.

The funding round saw co-leadership from Enza Capital and UK-based LocalGlobe, with additional participation from several other investment firms including Future Africa, Kaleo Ventures, Ajim Capital, Solving.org, and Accelerate Africa. This diverse investor base highlights growing international and regional confidence in Africa's potential to develop a robust AI talent ecosystem.

Co-founded by prominent Nigerian entrepreneur Iyinoluwa Aboyeji and South African-born CEO Kesiah Valkin, Talent Nation operates a "Learn2Earn" academy model. This approach not only trains and certifies individuals but also connects them with enterprise clients, such as IHS Towers, ensuring practical application of their skills and contributing to the local economy. The platform has already seen significant interest, receiving over 63,000 applications and currently supporting about 1,400 fellows across multiple campuses in six cities.

The initiative is poised to have a substantial impact on Africa's digital economy and its global competitiveness in AI. By building a large pool of skilled AI engineers, Talent Nation is not only creating employment opportunities but also fostering innovation and enabling the deployment of AI solutions tailored to African contexts. This investment underscores a strategic push to empower African youth with high-demand technological skills, bridging the talent gap and driving digital transformation across the continent.
