Injini Launches AI-Focused EdTech Accelerator for Southern African Startups

Injini, an African EdTech accelerator, has unveiled a new eight-month venture-building and incubation program specifically designed for early-stage teams developing AI solutions for education in Southern Africa. This initiative, supported by Coefficient Giving, aims to foster innovation in foundational learning, teacher support, learner pathways, inclusion, and overall education ecosystem engagement across the region.

The program will select 12 teams from nine Southern African countries: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Uniquely, applicants are not required to have an existing product or operating startup, only a well-developed idea. The initial five-month venture-building phase will guide teams through problem validation, solution design, AI-powered MVP development, and testing with educators and learners.

Following this, the top five teams will advance to a three-month incubation phase, each receiving $25,000 in equity-free seed funding, bringing Injini's total commitment to $125,000. Participants will also benefit from expert mentorship from AI engineers, learning scientists, and business specialists, alongside support for product testing, impact measurement, branding, and go-to-market strategies. The program runs from November 2026 to June 2027, with applications closing on September 27, 2026.
