Nigerian Cybersecurity Startup Aeon Secures $1 Million Pre-Seed for AI-Powered Defence Platform

Aeon, a Nigerian cybersecurity startup, has successfully closed a $1 million pre-seed funding round led by Terra Industries. The investment will fuel the development of its cyberdefence platform, which is specifically designed for high-trust organizations in the Global South. Notable participants in the round include Resilience17, DFS Labs, Kaleo Ventures, Seedstars, and Ajim Capital.

Founded by Samuel Ogbonyomi, Ben Eluan, and Alex Idowu, Aeon's origins trace back to their experience building cloud infrastructure solutions at PipeOps. The company aims to provide a comprehensive solution to the fragmented cybersecurity landscape, where organizations often juggle numerous tools without a unified view of their vulnerabilities. Aeon's product suite includes a hardware device, Aeon Edge, for network and data perimeter security, and Aeon Console, an AI-powered portal for monitoring and remediating vulnerabilities across various IT environments.

Aeon's relationship with lead investor Terra Industries began as a working partnership, evolving into an investment and a joint venture to execute contracts for corporate and government entities across the Global South. This collaboration highlights a strategic move to combine physical and digital security expertise. Aeon has already initiated pilot programs with financial institutions and cloud infrastructure companies in Nigeria, demonstrating its platform's value and its ambition to become a sovereign cyber defence layer for the region.

CEO Samuel Ogbonyomi emphasizes the significant opportunity within Africa's cybersecurity market, positioning Aeon as a holistic alternative to existing solutions. The company aims to protect organizations whether their infrastructure is on-premises, in the cloud, or hybrid, addressing a critical need for robust and integrated cyber protection across the continent and the broader Global South.
