MTN Launches AI-Powered Job Board to Bridge Skills Gap for African Youth

MTN has introduced an AI-enabled Job Board feature within its MTN Skills Academy, aiming to connect young Africans with employment opportunities and relevant training. This initiative, launched on International Youth Day, integrates learning, job discovery, and application tracking into a single platform, moving beyond traditional job listings to offer a more holistic approach to career development.

The platform utilizes AI to analyze users' existing skills, align them with employer requirements, and recommend courses to address any identified skill gaps. This functionality is particularly crucial in Africa, the world's youngest continent, where over 60% of the population is under 25 and faces significant employment barriers, especially as demand for digital and technology skills rapidly increases.

According to the International Finance Corporation, over 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills by 2030. MTN's Job Board directly responds to this projection by strengthening the link between digital skills training and labor market demands. It recommends roles based on a learner's skills, location, and career goals, and suggests free courses from the Skills Academy for further development.

The MTN Skills Academy, launched in 2022, offers training in digital literacy, coding, data analytics, AI, cybersecurity, and entrepreneurship. It has already seen substantial engagement, with nearly 526,000 enrollments across 11 markets. The new Job Board feature is available in these 11 markets, featuring vacancies from various African employers and supporting MTN's broader goal of fostering digital and economic inclusion across the continent.
