M-PESA Ethiopia and Gebeya Launch AI Mini App for Mobile Users

M-PESA Ethiopia has announced a strategic partnership with Gebeya Inc., an Ethiopian technology company, to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) tools directly into the M-PESA mobile money platform. This collaboration sees the launch of the Gebeya Dala Studio Mini App within the M-PESA App, aiming to extend M-PESA's digital ecosystem beyond traditional payment services. The goal is to provide M-PESA users with convenient access to a range of AI-powered services for various applications.

The new Mini App will offer AI services catering to a broad user base, including students, entrepreneurs, developers, and content creators. These services encompass learning, content creation, software development, and business innovation. Utilizing generative AI technologies, the platform empowers users to create diverse digital content such as applications, websites, games, videos, and music, fostering creativity and productivity.

Accessing these AI tools is streamlined through the M-PESA platform. Customers can create an account on Gebeya Dala, then open the Mini App within M-PESA to purchase AI service bundles. Payments are securely processed via M-PESA, and users receive a voucher code to activate their AI credits on the Dala platform. Additionally, each successful purchase comes with 1GB of complimentary Safaricom data, further incentivizing adoption.
