Botswana Forges Decade-Long Health AI and Genomics Alliance with Abu Dhabi's M42

Abu Dhabi's M42, a health technology group, has signed a ten-year strategic partnership with Botswana's Ministry of Health. This landmark agreement, M42's first health systems partnership in Africa, focuses on digital health transformation, a national genomics program, precision medicine, and local capability development. The deal was signed in Gaborone by key health officials from Botswana and M42 executives, though financial details were not disclosed.

The M42 group is a joint venture between G42 and Mubadala Health, extending a growing Emirati network of investments in African technology infrastructure. This includes previous ventures in data centers in Kenya and public sector digitalization in Côte d'Ivoire. This new partnership in Botswana signifies an expansion of this footprint into national health systems, following earlier investments in compute and energy sectors across the continent.
