Morocco and India Forge AI Partnership for Digital Public Services and Language Technologies

Morocco and India have formally agreed to establish a joint commission focused on digital skills, language technologies, and emerging technologies, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and large language models. This agreement follows a meeting in Rabat between high-level ministers from both nations, building on previous discussions held earlier in the year.
The new commission is expected to prioritize the development of multilingual AI tools designed to enhance interactions between citizens and public administration. A key aspect of this cooperation for Morocco will be the integration of local languages, Darija and Amazigh, into digital public services, aiming to make AI more accessible and effective for its diverse population.
Discussions also covered potential collaboration around Morocco's JAZARI Institutes, a national network of AI centers of excellence. These institutes, part of the country's "AI Made in Morocco" roadmap, are dedicated to fostering AI research, skills development, innovation, and practical applications, particularly within public services.
This partnership signifies a concrete step in government-to-government AI cooperation, evolving from initial dialogues into a structured bilateral initiative. It highlights a broader trend where nations seek international collaboration to address common challenges in multilingual AI, digital public infrastructure, and skills development, looking beyond traditional regional alliances for practical solutions.
