Egypt and Intel Launch Massive AI Skills Initiative Targeting One Million Citizens Annually

Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has formally partnered with Intel to launch an ambitious national AI skills initiative. This program aims to train one million Egyptian citizens annually over the next three years, focusing on AI literacy, technical skill development, and the promotion of responsible AI use. This collaboration is a key component of Egypt's broader strategy to cultivate a workforce capable of developing and deploying AI technologies, thereby bolstering its digital economy.

The initiative will cater to diverse groups, offering foundational AI training for youth, market-ready skills for students, upskilling for employees and job-seekers, and AI-enabled decision-making training for government leaders. A critical 'Training of Trainers' component plans to equip 1,500 local educators over three years, ensuring sustainable AI education delivery through local institutions. This program aligns with the second phase of Egypt's National AI Strategy (2025–2030), which seeks to expand AI adoption and its economic and social impact.

The partnership also emphasizes responsible technology use, integrating awareness of AI's opportunities and risks directly into the training curriculum. Intel's 'AI for Citizens' program will facilitate the initiative, making AI education accessible to a wider population. Beyond general literacy, the agreement includes technical workshops focused on Intel's AI infrastructure and computing technologies, aiming to build local expertise in the essential infrastructure for AI applications.

This large-scale program positions Egypt at the forefront of AI skills development in Africa, contributing significantly to the continent's broader efforts to enhance digital capabilities and prepare its workforce and public institutions for the increasing integration of AI. The initiative underscores the growing recognition of AI as a crucial factor in economic competitiveness and national development.
