Dangote Refinery Boosts Productivity with New AI Platform from Honeywell, NVIDIA, and Dell
Honeywell Technologies has deployed its Forge Plant Cognition industrial artificial intelligence platform at Nigeria's Dangote refinery. This new AI system, which integrates capabilities from NVIDIA and Dell Technologies, is designed to optimize refinery operations, enhance productivity, and improve profitability in complex industrial environments.
The implementation aims to significantly increase the refinery's capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028. Preliminary estimates suggest the AI platform could generate over $60 million in gross annual operational benefits at full capacity, primarily through cost savings and efficiency gains.
This initiative underscores a major technological advancement for Africa's largest oil-processing facility, positioning the Dangote refinery to strengthen its role in global oil markets and increase its supply of refined petroleum products across the African continent and beyond. The deployment highlights a growing trend of leveraging advanced AI solutions to drive industrial efficiency and economic growth in key African sectors.
