Bujeti Launches AI-Powered Finance Assistants for African Businesses

Nigerian fintech startup Bujeti has publicly launched "Brain," an agentic AI platform designed to automate routine financial tasks for businesses in Africa. This platform, developed by co-founders Cossi Achille Arouko and Samy Chiba, introduces four AI "teammates" named Fetch, Chaser, Watchdog, and Concierge, each specializing in different aspects of financial management, from invoice processing and debt collection to risk flagging and internal query resolution.
Bujeti's unique selling proposition lies in its integrated approach; unlike many AI finance tools that require data feeding, Brain operates directly on Bujeti's existing ledger, which has been built over three years. This allows the AI to access and process comprehensive financial data across accounts, budgets, vendors, and transactions, ensuring a deeper and more accurate automation.
The platform emphasizes safety and control, with no AI "teammate" having the authority to move money independently. Low-confidence actions are routed to human oversight, all actions are logged, and customer data is not used for external model training. Currently serving over 2,000 finance professionals in Nigeria and Kenya, Bujeti aims to become a leading financial management platform across Africa within five years.
The company, backed by Y Combinator and having secured $2.5 million in seed funding, plans further expansions, including enhancing Chaser for full debt and loan collection and developing a connector (Bujeti MCP) to allow other AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to interact with business finance data under strict permissions. This initiative addresses a critical gap in the African market for sophisticated, integrated financial management tools.
